Robert Calkin, PhD

Dr Bob Calkin became involved in career coaching after a midlife career change of his own, while in his mid-forties. He completed a PhD in sociology at Canterbury University and developed a particular interest in the changing nature of work, and how this impacts upon the career paths of workers in the modern economy.

That knowledge was used to found the Career Mentoring Institute which has developed a range of products and services from one-on-one coaching and seminars to customised publications and email courses.

Literally thousands of people have now benefited from a product with its origins in the Career Mentoring Institute.

Bob is closely involved with the development of all research and new products: and provides a one-on-one career mentoring service.

Richard Calkin

In developing the research, products and services of the Career Mentoring Institute Bob Calkin has worked closely with his son, Richard Calkin. Richard is a social sciences graduate whose background includes a mixture of marketing and media work.

As well as practical hands-on work, Richard has been very active in developing many of the systems that underpin the Institute's work as well as writing content for publications, websites and training materials.
